Welcome! This is my Temple Beth El Weblog, and in the weeks to come, you will find sermons, letters, and posts from our congregational trip to Israel, set for December 2007. Until that time, I hope you enjoy these quotations from eminent figures in history and literature, ideas and thoughts that inform my understandings and hopes for the world:
In places where there is no humanity, strive to bring humanity there! (Hillel) The hottest places in Hell are reserved for those who, in times of great moral crisis, maintain their neutrality. (Dante) Nothing will ever be attempted, if all possible objections must first be overcome. (Samuel Johnson) Pain is just weakness leaving the body. (Reginald Stewart)
Next we transferred to the Ga’ash army base where we ‘inspected’ some of the Merkava tanks that were used in the 2006 war with Hezbollah inside Lebanon. Here is a photo of one of them.
