Welcome! This is my Temple Beth El Weblog, and in the weeks to come, you will find sermons, letters, and posts from our congregational trip to Israel, set for December 2007. Until that time, I hope you enjoy these quotations from eminent figures in history and literature, ideas and thoughts that inform my understandings and hopes for the world:
In places where there is no humanity, strive to bring humanity there! (Hillel) The hottest places in Hell are reserved for those who, in times of great moral crisis, maintain their neutrality. (Dante) Nothing will ever be attempted, if all possible objections must first be overcome. (Samuel Johnson) Pain is just weakness leaving the body. (Reginald Stewart)
A Ride to the Border – Unauthorized Entry? Today our Tour Guide Daphna let us sleep in (we had ‘til 8:30 AM to appear on the bus), so our breakfast was leisurely and plentiful as always in an Israeli tourist breakfast.
